This course will introduce the concept of behaviour change with delegates beginning to develop the knowledge and skills required to use behaviour change strategies as tools in communication with patients (including dietetic consultations) and to ensure a service user centred approach to this aspect of care.
This course will introduce the concept of behaviour change. Delegates will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge of the underpinning evidence base and current policy. Some practical activities will be included to help develop the skills required to effectively use behaviour change strategies as tools whilst working with patients within dietetic consultations and other situations. The importance of good communication and active listening skills and the patient/service user centred approach will be demonstrated.
The pre-course reading is designed to provide a broad overview of some of the current drivers in this area so everyone can see why behaviour change is such an important subject and how the communication skills of healthcare practitioners affect the patient/service-user ability to undertake behaviour change.
The post-course reading will allow delegates to further explore some of the key areas that they are particularly interested in.
