The incredibly valuable, newly developed BDA Dietetic Career Framework and Roles and Responsibilities Guidance for the Dietetic Support Workforce underpins course content. Clearly defined learning outcomes will be achieved via engaging and meaningful activities, with effective utilisation of feedback. There will be numerous opportunities throughout the day for interactive learning via group work, discussion, experience sharing and practical application of knowledge, skills and pertinent BDA resources. We will foster a reflective learning environment to support participants to identify key learning points and take-away actions.

This one day course is aimed at the Dietetic Support Workforce (DSW) working in both acute and community settings. It will be suitable for those relatively new in post and as a useful update for those with some previous knowledge and experience.

Aim:

1)    To increase the dietetic support workforce's knowledge and understanding of their role and responsibilities and of the principles of patient centred care

2)    To ensure the dietetic support workforce understands how professionalism and ethics apply within the workplace 

Learning Outcomes:

1)    Define the roles and responsibilities of DSW's, including boundaries and scope of practice

2)    List recent reports and current guidance and policy documents on professional practice

3)    Explain how professional ethics apply within the workplace

4)    Describe the principles of patient centred care and the core skills required
