This one day course is aimed at Dietetic Support Workers (DSW) working in both acute and community settings. It will be suitable for those relatively new in post and as a useful update for those with some previous knowledge and experience.

Aim:

1)    To increase the DSW's knowledge and understanding of their role and responsibilities and of the principles of patient centred care

2)    To ensure the DSW understands how professionalism and ethics apply within the workplace 

Learning Outcomes:

1)    Define the roles and responsibilities of DSW's, including boundaries and scope of practice

2)    List recent reports and current guidance and policy documents on professional practice

3)    Explain how professional ethics apply within the workplace

4)    Describe the principles of patient centred care and the core skills required

5)    Demonstrate the values of the NHS, patient centred goals and outcome based care
