Course aim:

The aim of this course is to provide education on the use of the BDA Dietetic Common Assessment Tool (CAT) in the pre-registration training of dietitians in undertaking practice-based learning.

Objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Appreciate the underlying core principles of the Dietetic CAT
  • Understand the learning framework which underpins the Dietetic CAT
  • Know your role and responsibilities as a learner, practice educator or academic
  • Familiarise yourself with the dietetic capabilities
  • Use the processes for supervision and assessment
  • Recognise how the Dietetic CAT links with other professional and regulatory body guidance and standards

This course aims to give you an essential overview of nutrition in mental health, learning disabilities and eating disorders to enable you to support your service users' physical health needs.

How long will it take to complete the course?

Learners will work at their own speed but on average, this course will take approximately two and a half hours to complete. This may take longer, depending on how much reference is made to the additional resources.
